Regulatory Study

Well before Alberta’s last provincial election and latest “Red Tape Reduction” initiatives; work began out of the pressure equipment manufacturing sector to delve into the economic impact of regulating skilled trades in Alberta and the state of the regulatory review process. This final report is now published and available here for your review.

Pressure Welders Regulation

Rick Walmsley was a significant contributor to revisions to the current Pressure Welders Regulation in Alberta. External to the actual regulation, major revisions were introduced to the “B” pressure certification, Welding Examiner in Training certification, “C” pressure syllabus and more. Continuing to drive regulatory reform is a key interest for the RW JAMES AGENCY

Canadian Center for Welding & Joining

Our founder (Rick), served as a member of the 1st Industry Advisory Board for the new Welding Chair at the University of Alberta. The department grew significantly during his tenure, graduating and attracting multiple Masters and Doctoral research students from around the world. Rick also assisted with guidance for the department’s administrative structure that remains in place today.

University of Bath Research

Some of the worlds largest remote working living facilities are found in the oil sands region of northern Alberta Canada. Significant differences in how these facilities are managed directly impacts worker motivation on the jobsite(s). A complete study was delivered in 2017 and is available from the University of Bath library.
